Liam and Andrew: A Homies Success Story
Meet Liam, a neurodiverse individual on the autism spectrum who had been living with his parents in Southern California and feeling lonely before he found Homies. Though Liam was capable of living independently, he wasn’t getting out much or hanging out with friends. He needed occasional reminders to take medication, transportation to his job, and most importantly, companionship.

Loneliness is a common issue among individuals with disabilities, with studies showing that up to 60% of adults with disabilities experience loneliness on a regular basis. Homies was able to help Liam find the perfect companion and roommate, Andrew, who turned out to be a perfect match for him.
Here’s why Liam and Andrew make such great roommates:
- Both love video games
- Enjoy trying new food
- Love Disneyland and traveling
- Enjoy watching movies
- Appreciate a clean and quiet living space
Together, Liam and Andrew enjoy a fulfilling life, sharing meaningful connections and experiences while also providing each other with the support and companionship they need. Recently, Liam had the opportunity to meet with one of the Homies founders, Garrett, at Disneyland.
At Homies, our mission is to provide individuals with disabilities with more choices for independent living and integration in the community, while also providing a viable career path for direct care workers. Liam and Andrew’s success story is just one example of how our program can make a meaningful impact on the lives of those we serve.
