Referral process
Intro call
Call us or send the referral form. Tell us about support needs, interests, and preferences.
Assessment and Regional Center referral
Send the referral packet. We review it, then meet with the person and their family to learn their goals.
Roommate matching
We find supportive roommates who fit on personality, interests, location, and support needs. They meet several times before anyone decides.
Finding a home
Most pairs look for a new place together. We help them with the search and keep you posted.
Move-in and ongoing support
We coordinate the move with you, the person, and the roommate. After that we send regular updates and join IPP meetings whenever you want us there.

How do I make a referral to Homies?

What information do you need for a referral?
Basic information, support needs, interests, location preference, and any specific requirements. More detail means a better match.
How long does the matching process take?
Finding a match usually takes 2 to 6 weeks, depending on the person's needs and location. From the first call to move-in, plan on 1 to 3 months. The right match matters more than a quick one.
What if the match does not work out?
We stay in it. Every pair gets a Discovery Navigator who checks in regularly, and there is a support line staffed around the clock. When friction comes up we mediate first, because most of it is ordinary roommate friction. If a match genuinely is not right, we look for a new one. That is rare. It has happened several times, and it has gone well. A second match is easier than the first, because by then we know much more about what the person wants and needs.
Do you attend IPP meetings?
Yes. We're happy to join IPP meetings to talk about progress, goals, and changes to the support plan.
What Regional Centers do you work with?
We are vendored with 11 Regional Centers across California: San Diego, Orange County, Inland, Westside, Lanterman, South Central LA, San Gabriel/Pomona, Eastern LA, Harbor, North LA County, and Tri-Counties. If your client is with another Regional Center, reach out anyway and we'll talk through options.
How is Homies funded?
Through the Regional Center, as a Supported Living Services vendor. Families pay nothing for matching.
