Our commitment to your family
Every family deserves peace of mind. Here's what we promise — and how we deliver.
Why we made this promise
I started Homies because I saw too many families with limited options. The choice was often between a group home that didn't feel right or figuring it out alone. I knew there had to be a better way.
Every match we make is personal to me and our team. We know the names, the stories, the families. This page isn't marketing — it's accountability. These are the standards we hold ourselves to, and we want you to hold us to them too.

The 7 Homies Promises
These aren't aspirations. They're commitments we deliver on every single day.
Rigorous Screening
FBI fingerprint checks, DOJ clearance, National Sex Offender database, and state criminal court records. Every roommate. Zero exceptions.
Compatibility-First Matching
Matched on personality, interests, and lifestyle. Never just availability. We'd rather wait for the right person than rush a bad fit.
Required Training
Every roommate completes comprehensive training covering disability awareness, communication strategies, and emergency procedures before any match.
24/7 Support
Our team is always available. Day or night, weekday or weekend, help is one call away. You're never on your own.
Monthly Check-ins
A dedicated program manager conducts regular visits and calls. Not quarterly. Monthly. Small issues get addressed before they become big ones.
Family Involvement
Families stay informed and involved from matching through move-in and beyond. Life-sharing means independence, not isolation.
Re-matching Commitment
If a match isn't working despite our best efforts, we find a better fit. No one is ever left without support. That's our guarantee.

Common questions
What families ask about our commitment to safety and quality
Every roommate goes through a rigorous five-step process: identity verification, FBI and DOJ background checks, reference and experience review, personality and compatibility assessment, and comprehensive training. Only a fraction of candidates make it through. Learn more on our screening process page at meethomies.com/our-screening-process.
We address concerns immediately. Our program managers conduct monthly check-ins and are available 24/7. If a match isn't working despite mediation, we help transition to a new roommate while ensuring continuity of support. No one is ever left without care.
As involved as you want. Many families participate in meet-and-greets, help with the transition, and stay in regular contact. We provide ongoing updates and welcome family input throughout the match. Life-sharing is about independence, not isolation.
It means exactly what it sounds like. If there's an emergency at 2am on a Saturday, you can call us and reach a real person on our team — not a call center, not a voicemail. We're available around the clock, 365 days a year.
Yes. We expect an adjustment period when any new match begins — that's normal with any roommate situation. During this time, we increase our check-in frequency and provide extra support to both the client and roommate to ensure a smooth transition.
In a group home, multiple people share a facility with rotating staff. With Homies, your loved one lives in a real home with one compatible roommate who they chose. They make their own decisions, set their own schedule, and build a genuine friendship — not a care relationship.
Background reading
Still deciding between options? Start with what life-sharing actually is, then compare it directly to group homes. Families researching housing for autistic adults in California often start there.
