Being a supportive roommate isn’t just sharing a space with someone. It’s having a friend who looks out for you and spends meaningful time with you. It’s an ideal living situation, and Eddy and Robert’s story shows how that works.
Sports to Friendship
Eddy and Robert met fifteen years ago through the Special Olympics. As Robert’s floor hockey coach, Eddy has been a constant in Robert’s life. They hung out with Robert’s family after practices, played practical jokes on each other, paired together during camping trips, and kept in constant touch when Eddy briefly lived in Nicaragua. Eddy sees his relationship with Robert as one of equals and he is invested in Robert’s well-being.

A New Journey
When Robert joined Homies, Eddy jumped at the chance to be Robert’s supportive roommate. Eddy and Robert now live together in a three bedroom apartment and enjoy cooking, cleaning, playing sports, going to the gym, and swimming. And through their living situation, Homies has been there to support them, responsive and acting fast to meet their needs. Eddy doesn’t see his role as supportive roommate as work but as helping his little brother out. They’re even looking for another roommate to join in their fun.
Homies is proud to play a role in Eddy and Robert strengthening their friendship and their journey as roommates. Nurturing relationships is key to ideal living situations and Homies is here to help out.
